Stuart Bogie

Musician

I am a composer, improvisor, and performer of music. I work with woodwinds and brass often and draw on what is commonly referred to as jazz, folk music, concert music, and popular music. Improvising approaches the ecstatic state, compositions shape the rituals to set the stage for that experience. I play clarinet, saxophone, flute, and keyboards.

Where are you based?
NYC

How long have you been doing this type of work?
I have been working on this for as long as I can remember. I was 16 when I began to formalize some of my approaches to group improvisation and composition, following the summer I saw Miles Davis and went to Interlochen Arts Camp. I am 44 now, so I've been working on these ideas for about 28 years.
